Karunai Illam Ministry was started on the 13th of June 1993 as a project of St. John’s Church, Fort, Vellore on the basis of the vision received by one of the members Mrs. Jean Jepegnanam who was a teacher in the Ida Scudder School, Vellore. This project was registered as a Trust in 2002.

The objective is to promote Physical, Socio-Economic and spiritual development of the marginalized people, especially children in the spirit of Christ. This is achieved by reaching out to the disadvantaged communities that have not been contacted by other social service groups, with education, health care and skills development.

One of the people groups whose jewellery making skills are utilized is the Gypsies. The jewellery hand made by them include necklaces, ear rings, bracelets and anklets, using thread, leather, pearls, glass, metals and hand rolled beads made by another people group “Rag pickers”.

By supporting this jewellery project you not only get your unique matching jewellery but you also help transform the lives of the less fortunate.

“I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of thee brothers of mine, you did for me” Matt. 25:40
