Karunai illam project started functioning on June 13th, 1993. First it was part of St. John’s Church. But in the year 2004, it was registered as Karunai Illam Trust . It is an independent Trust with 9 members.                   To reach out and serve the members of vagrant communities especially          children in and around Vellore. The selected communities are those that          have not been contacted by other social service groups.         To teach children the basic rudiments of reading, writing and arithmetic as          a preparation towards formal education in the nearby schools.         To provide health education and medical aid to the extent possible.         To share God’s love with them through songs and teaching of God’s Word.             To be able to make our centers an ideal or model village, self-sufficient and be a witness to people around.       To reach out to other places where the gospel has not gone yet.
